Hair Removal

PRE CARE WAXING ADVICE

HAIR REMOVAL

Waxing is a form of semi-permanent hair removal, which removes hair from the root. New hair will take around 4-6 weeks to grow back, although some people might see regrowth in a week due to some hair being on a different growth cycle. All of our waxing services are carried out with a sensitive waxing range which contains aloe-Vera and a lavender aroma. We recommended trimming long hairs before treatment.

Lucy K is specialised in intimate waxing which she uses a hot wax for these areas. Hot wax is a thicker wax made up of plastics too allow the wax to slightly set. Hot wax works at a slightly higher temperature making shorter, stubborn hairs easier to remove, once wax has hardened on the skin it is pulled off directly without the use of a paper strip.  We recommended trimming long hairs before treatment.

Threading is another method of hair removal originating from Iran, India and central Asia. In more recent times it has gained popularity in western countries, especially with a cosmetic application. Threading is a method of hair removal in which unwanted hairs are plucked out by using a twisted cotton thread.

  • Do not wax, shave or tweeze the area for 3 weeks to allow hairs to grow to approximately ¼ inches.

  • Prior to your treatment do not use body lotion or moisturising body washes as they may prevent the wax from being applied and removed efficiently.

  • Wear loose fitted clothing.

  • Avoid sun exposure the day before your wax.

  • Waxing can be more uncomfortable a week before your period.

  • Trim the hair before your appointment - longer hair can be more painful to wax.

  • Exfoliate the waxing area 24-48 hours before your appointment - this will keep the skin soft and smoother and prevent ingrown hairs

  • Bath or shower on the day of your appointment to open up follicles - allowing for easier hair removal.

  • Do not apply any deodorants, make-up, lotions, soaps, powders, perfumes or self-tanning products to the area to be waxed.

DURING THE TREATMENT

  • Wear loose fitted and comfortable clothes to your appointment.

  • Help the therapist with stretching your skin in sensitive areas - this will help with the pain.

WAXING AFTERCARE

  • Do not apply any products onto the skin after your treatment as this may block pores or cause irritation.

  • Avoid hot baths or showers.

  • Avoid touching the area.

  • The area might appear red, blotchy and bump post treatment, we don’t recommend using any products on the area and just applying a cold compress.

  • Avoid swimming, steam rooms and saunas for 24 hours.

  • If underarms have been waxed to not use deodorant.

  • If brows, upper lip or chin has been waxed or threaded do not apply products or make up to the area for 24 hours - unless mineral.

  • Post treatment the follicles and pores are susceptible to bacteria, this could result in the area becoming blemished with small spots

  • To maintain your smooth appearance, regular waxing is recommended every 4-6 weeks.

  • Please do not shave between your appointments.
